PRINCE…

DSC01777

Hi everyone, its been a while but i am back with a ton of new packages.  I digress, here is my tribute painting of Prince. Prince Rogers Nelson was an American singer-songwriter, actor, multi-instrumentalist, philanthropist, dancer and record producer. I had several reference photos to chose from, but i ended up using this, simply because he had that little smile. This gesture is most appealing because from the painting and use of color already emits his calm and stylish personality. Prince seance of style was admired by many. June 7th 1958 – April 21st 2016. Rest in peace.

Art is about building a new foundation, not just laying something on top of what’s already there.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Prince.

A KING FOR A QUEEN

It’s done. After signing this painting, i took a few steps back, sat down on the sofa. I stared at the vibrant colors , and let the colors marinate in me. I really love this painting to the point that it’s hard to let it go. It’s my latest painting, and i think i have fallen in love with using acrylic paints. To me the colors depicts an accent of  royalty in emphasis to rich natural love. MUHAMMAD ALI

Muhammad Ali was an American Olympic and professional boxer and activist. He is widely regarded as one of the most significant and celebrated sports figures of the 20th century. I refer to him as the world’s greatest. This is my tribute painting of Muhammad Ali depicting his favorite saying; “I float like a butterfly, sting like a bee”. This is my tribute painting of the famous boxer Muhammad Ali. Its a 36″ x  48″ painting  done with oil paint on canvas, and it is available at my online store at http://artbyikenna.storenvy.com I also included a time lapse painting process of this painting below;

Aphrodisiac

DSC01008

Chocolate Melanin Caramel,,,,,, “Aphrodisiac” ,,,,she’s a candy. At first when i did this, it was nothing more than a beautiful figurative painting. A month later i did a little sketch while having a few shots of wine, i was a little bit tipsy and slept off. After a little while, i woke up looking at this painting directly in front of me. Mind you, my eyes were still sleepy and unclear. But for some reason, i thought the woman in the painting was real , it looked like she winked at me and moved her lips like she whispered something. It just didn’t feel right, so i had to wipe my eyes to see clearly. A of course its the same old painting, so i laughed at myself and said “so this wine made me think my painting was flirting with me”. The moral of this short story is that sometimes it takes a certain situation to determine a perfect name and meaning to certain works of art. Have a blessed day people.The original painting is available at my online store at http://artbyikenna.storenvy.com

SELF PORTRAIT

self portrait picmonkey

I believe every artist needs to have a self portrait. I have a dimple when i smile, so for some reason i tried not to smile so hard. Its an oil painting i decided to share with everyone on this beautiful sunday. This painting depicts me smiling and looking forward at life and great possibilities, and how it is a blessing to be alive. They say a picture can tell a lot, so therefore if you stare at this photo and come up with an assumption that “he looks calm, quiet, and looks like he has a warm personality with a sense of humor” then you are correct. But others may think otherwise.

“Pictures do talk, not loud, but quiet, only to the mind”.                                                                                                                                                          -Ikenna Chineme.

THE SHY MUSE

DSC01081

Its her first time to pose for a nude painting. A beautiful chocolate with a taste of sweetness, yet she tends to be shy. I did enjoy doing this work, lots of laughter and jokes. She was trying her best to stay still, but she kept giggling.  I painted this recently. I think the red light bouncing on her from the side and also her jewelries was  a good idea, because the model did not have any. Some additions are worth it.  I also spent about 7 hours doing this work, and of course with short breaks and wine in between each break. It’s a  36×48 inches oil painting. Hope you like it. The painting is available at my online store at http://artbyikenna.storenvy.com
